About Clay
Clay Adamah (they/ze) is an author-illustrator working towards representation for picture books and graphic novels.
Like a raccoon in a compost heap, Clay is most content while munching on a good story. They have a particular fondness for buried treasure, grumpy souls, and anything unexpectedly warm and fuzzy. If you are especially good at finding things, you might be able to track them down scribbling on rock-paper in the brackish marshes of Massachusetts or—if it's storming—holed up in a blanket fort with a pile of good books.
Clay's work explores themes of subversive joy, expansive diasporic identity, disability ingenuity, solidarity, and resilience. A trans-nonbinary, queer, ND, Disabled creator, Clay is particularly interested in projects involving expansive expression and intersectional identity.
